Tonight we talk, even though I am sick as hell, about this new book from Edward Banchs, about the history and rise of African Metal Music. Then we will speak of some of the bigger musicians who are sick, and getting worse… Or not better at all. So sit back, and grab a beer, or lit up a smoke because you’re in for a hell of an episode.
Edward Banchs is a huge wind miller. He studied Africa for years, and learned all about the land, and cultures. He discovered that there are metal fans there as well, along with many metal bands. His book talks a lot about the rise of metal bands theres. He tells stories of yelling is bars alongside other metal bands, and finding record stores. I have not got a chance to read it yet, but I will if I get a chance. It is for sale on Amazon and be sure to check out Edward’s Twitter, to tell him what you think of the book, or maybe just ask some questions!
A couple of the bigger musicians in the game are falling ill as of late. Austin Carlile of Of Mice & Men, a band which I do not care too much for, has spread some ill news of his health. He has a rare fibrotic connective tissue disorder called Marfan syndrome. I read a on it a bit, and it’s nasty shit. He had to cancel some tours, and shows lately because of it. The shittiest part of it all? It won’t get better, no surgery or medicine can cure him at this point. We’ll send some good vibes his way, and recommend you send him some nice words to his Twitter.
EyeHateGod’s Mike Williams is still in pretty bad shape. He has had all sorts of internal bleeding issues, and the like. He needs a liver transplant, and needs some help covering his medical bills, which is a HUGE headache. Trust me, I just went through that shit. So his wife, set up a Youcaring page to support him. Let’s come together again, and try to help him get back to doing what he does best. Donate here.
Well that’s it for this show. Sorry again that I sounded like shit. I am about done with this being sick all the time stuff. We hope you enjoyed and we’ll see you next week!
